Big Sean 6888 G Ma

Big Sean’s grandmother’s history is closely reflected in the new historical drama, “The Six Triple Eight,” thanks to Tyler Perry. The film, which premiered at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood, follows the contributions of the all-Black and all-female 6888th Postal Directory Battalion during World War II. Mildred V. Leonard, a member of the battalion and one of the first Black female captains in the service, was honored with a posthumous Congressional Gold Medal in 2022. Big Sean expressed gratitude to Perry for shedding light on this overlooked piece of American and Black history, highlighting the strength and resilience of the women in the battalion.
