Beautiful Black fraternity and sorority couples have existed for over 100 years, making a significant impact on their communities. Some prominent D9 couples from the Harlem Renaissance era include Paul Robeson (Alpha) & Eslanda Goode Robeson (Delta), B. Beatrix Scott (AKA) & James Edward Scott (Κappa), and Roy W. Tibbs (Sigma) & Lillian Evanti (Ζeta). These couples, such as Julia Washington Bond (Delta) & Horace Mann Bond (Kappa) and Allison Davis (Omega) & Elizabeth Stubbs Davis (Delta), worked together to advance education and social progress. Other notable couples include Selena Sloan Butler (SGRho) and Dr. Henry Rutherford Butler (Omega), and Sadie T.M. Alexander (Delta) & Raymond Pace Alexander (Alpha), who were legal trailblazers in Philadelphia.
