A former friend of Kevin Hart is suing him for $12 million because he violated a 2021 settlement agreement that called for him to publicly clear the friend of extortion claims connected to Hart’s 2017 sex tape scandal.
The friend, Jonathan “J.T.” Jackson, was initially charged with extortion, but the case was eventually dropped.
Jackson claims that Hart contributed to the false claims against him. Jackson’s lawsuit alleges breach of contract, fraud, and emotional distress, and he claims that the email used as evidence in the case was fabricated.
Jackson says the ordeal has caused mental health struggles and impacted his career opportunities. According to Jackson’s attorney, Hart didn’t use the agreed-upon verbiage where he would make it clear that Jackson was cleared of any wrongdoing and the loss of a valuable friendship; instead, the video focused on Hart “moving on.”
Should Kevin Hart have to pay up because he didn’t use the verbiage he was supposed to?
