The Honorable Edwin Narain has been an active leader in the Tampa Bay community for three decades. His desire to help others grew from the examples set by his parents and has led to multiple leadership roles throughout his life.
Ed is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives. In Tallahassee, he chaired the Florida Legislative Black Caucus and passed important legislation addressing the historical wrongs at the Dozier School for Boys, sponsored the Arthur Greene Jr. act and spearheaded the removal of a confederate monument at the Statutory Hall in DC.
A licensed attorney, he has been a leader in several community and nonprofit organizations like the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, the Tampa Bay Chamber, the Hillsborough County Charter Review Board, the Saint Leo University Board of Trustees and the African American Arts and Culture Center Board of Directors.
Ed is married to Monica, a public-school teacher and together they have two young daughters. They co-founded the Black Leadership Network at the University of South Florida, where they endow the Narain Family Scholarship to provide financial assistance to African-American students enrolled at the university.
Ed is a sought-after speaker, panelist, and television analyst. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. where he has served as the Polemarch of the Tampa Alumni Chapter.
He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law. He holds a masters in business administration and a bachelors in psychology from Saint Leo University. He lives by the by the belief found in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
