Jill Jacobson, ‘Falcon Crest’ actress, dead at 70

Actress Jill Jacobson, who appeared in the primetime soap opera “Falcon Crest” died Dec. 8 in Los Angeles. She was 70.

Publicist Daniel Harary told Variety that Jacobson died after a battle with “a long illness.”

Jacobson played a recurring role on “Falcon Crest” as scheming private detective Erin Jones in 22 episodes of “Falcon Crest” from 1985 to 1987, according to The Hollywood Reporter. At the same time, she appeared in eight episodes of “The New Gidget.”

A graduate of the University of Texas, Jacobson moved to Los Angeles, Jacobson began her acting career in the title role of the horror film “Nurse Sherri,” according to IMDb.com.

She later appeared in “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Hung,” “Newhart,” “Castle” and “Who’s the Boss?” Variety reported.

Jacobson’s other television credits include “Crazy Like a Fox,” “Quantum Leap,” “Arliss” and “Murphy Brown,” the entertainment website reported. On film, Jacobson had roles in “Splash,” “Bad Georgia Road,” “Forbidden Love” and “Baby Sister.”

She also performed stand-up comedy routines at The Comedy Store and The Improv in Los Angeles.

“Jill’s comic timing was brilliant,” said Caryn Richman, who starred with Jacobson on “The New Gidget.” “And her enthusiasm and love of life made our time together on set joyful.”

In addition to her acting career, Jacobson was a spokesperson and award recipient for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
