Stanley mugs are one of the must-have holiday gifts this year, but the Consumer Product Safety Committee said that more than two million have been recalled.
The recall affects the Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs only. The mugs’ lid threads can shrink when heated and torque is applied. The lid can then detach while using and cause burns, the CPSC said.
The mugs were sold in several sizes and colors with a polypropylene lid. The Stanley logo is on the front and bottom of the mug.
The following mugs are part of the recall:
Switchback
- 12-ounce - product number 20-01437
- 16-ounce - product number 20-01436 or 20-02211
Trigger Action
- 12-ounce - product number 20-02033, 20-02779 or 20-02825
- 16-ounce - product number 20-02030, 20-02745 or 20-02957
- 20-ounce - product number 20-02034 or 20-02746
The product number can also be found on the bottom of the mug.
They were sold at Amazon, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Target and other stores across the country and online from June 2016 to December 2024 for between $20 and $50.
If you have the recalled mugs, you should stop using them and contact Stanley for a free replacement lid, the CPSC advised.
