If you’re giving your kid’s teacher a gift this month, here’s what they do and DON’T want. 800 teachers were asked about common gifts they get this time of year. And your safest bet won’t cost you much. It could even be free. 44% of teachers expect to receive gifts from students or parents during the holidays, while 53% do not.

Here are their top five answers

1. Handwritten letters, 52%

2. Cash or gift cards, 45%

3. Classroom supplies, 33%

4. Personal items like a scarf or coffee mug, 28%

5. Packaged food like cookies or candy, 24%

The top gift they DON’T want to get is BOOZE. Not everyone drinks . . . and it’s also just awkward to get alcohol from a child.
