A simple Thanksgiving meal for 10 is supposed to cost $58 this year. Or, you could blow your full holiday budget on this. A fancy restaurant in New York called Old Homestead Steakhouse is offering a special cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving that costs $200 per SPOONFUL. Their regular Thanksgiving dinner is pricey, but not insane. The classed-up meal with turkey and fixings costs $85, or $105 if you add filet mignon. But for an extra $195, you can add a dollop of the cranberry sauce. Here’s why it’s so expensive. In addition to the fresh cranberries, it’s infused with a port wine that costs $4,400 a bottle . . . white truffles that cost $1,500 per pound . . . a special honey imported from New Zealand . . . and it’s decorated with edible gold leaf. They’re only serving it on Thanksgiving Day. The owners say they started with their mom’s cranberry recipe and fancied it up.
