Does your pet know you better than anyone else?

Today is National Love Your Pet Day, which means it’s time to bite your tongue and force a smile, as your cat claws up your furniture.

In a recent poll on pets, 44% of people say they consider themselves a “dog person” . . . 18% are more of “cat person” . . . 25% love both equally . . . and 14% are NEITHER.

77% of dog owners say they believe their dogs know them “very well.” Another 20% say their dogs know them “somewhat well.” Meaning only 3% do not think their dogs know them well at all. In fact, 20% say their dogs know them BETTER than their friends and family.

61% of cat owners say they believe their cats know them “very well.” Another 29% say their cats know them “somewhat well.” Meaning 10% do not think their cats pay attention to them.

17% say their cats know them better than any humans.

As for the TYPE of relationships, 26% of dog owners say they’re “best friends” with their dogs. 23% consider themselves a pet “parent” . . . 16% consider dogs a “companion” . . . 13% say they’re the “owner” . . . 12% say they’re a “friend” . . .

4% consider themselves a “master” . . . 2% say they’re “roommates” with their dogs . . . and 1% say they are their dogs’ “servant.”

Things are different with cats. 21% of cat owners say they’re pet “parents” or “companions” to their cats. 15% consider themselves a “friend” . . . 14% would say they’re the “owner” . . . 12% describe themselves as a “best friend” . . .

5% are a “servant” to their cats . . . 4% consider themselves “roommates” . . . and 3% claim they’re the “master.”
