It’s been a crazy last few months for Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco; and this week it got a little crazier as he’s now been officially charged with sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a 14 year old with additional charges of illicit migrant smuggling and human trafficking being added yesterday.
The 23-year-old player was placed on Major League Baseball’s restricted list on Wednesday, cutting off the $2 million in salary he had been receiving while on administrative leave.
