On Friday, a US appeals court upheld the law that requires TikTok to be sold off from its Chinese parent company ByteDance or be banned here in the US. Right now the app is used by more than 170 million Americans.
Under the law, if its not sold, app stores could face major fines if they continue to host TikTok following the deadline. Users who already have the app could continue to use it for a while but would not be able to receive updates and it may eventually become buggy and potentially useless.
TikTok bosses are planning to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court. More on this developing story here.
